Question 1

What is the difference between Moomba models like the Craz, Mojo, Max, and Tykon?

Accepted Answer

The Moomba Craz (22') is the entry-level wakeboard model with a 350 HP Indmar Raptor 400 engine. The Mojo (23') is the mid-range model offering more ballast and wake-shaping capability. The Max (22') is a versatile crossover designed for both wakeboarding and skiing with a flatter hull wake. The Tykon (24') is the flagship model, offering the largest wake, highest ballast capacity, and premium features, powered by the Indmar 6.2L Ford Raptor 400 engine producing 350 HP.

Question 2

What engine does the Moomba Tykon use?

Accepted Answer

The Moomba Tykon is powered by the Indmar 6.2L Ford Raptor 400 MPI engine, producing 350 horsepower with a 1.7:1 transmission. It features a catalysed exhaust system for emissions compliance. The engine has a 70-gallon fuel capacity and is paired with an OJ 15.5x13 4-blade Nibral propeller for optimal wakeboarding and wakesurfing performance.

Question 3

Are Moomba parts interchangeable with Supra parts?

Accepted Answer

Moomba and Supra are both manufactured by Skier's Choice and share many Indmar drivetrain components. The Indmar 6.2L Raptor engine parts — such as oil filter cartridge 501022S, intake manifold gasket 556099 (order 2 per engine for 5.7L Vortec), and exhaust elbow gaskets 597095 — are shared between both brands. However, hull-specific components, towers, ballast bags, and interior trim are unique to each brand and are not interchangeable.

Question 4

What is the Moomba Makai and what is it designed for?

Accepted Answer

The Moomba Makai is a crossover model in the Moomba lineup, designed for riders who want both wakeboarding and wakesurfing capability in a more versatile package. Like other current Moomba models, it is powered by the Indmar 6.2L Ford Raptor engine. The Makai offers a balanced hull design that produces a clean wake for boarding and a surfable wave with the ballast system engaged.

Question 5

What is the Moomba Mondo and who is it best suited for?

Accepted Answer

The Moomba Mondo is a compact (20') wakeboard and wakesurf boat designed for smaller crews and tighter waterways. Despite its smaller footprint, it delivers tournament-level tow boat performance thanks to its Indmar engine and Moomba's hull design. It is ideal for riders who want Moomba quality and performance in a more maneuverable and fuel-efficient package.

Question 6

How do I find the right replacement parts for my Moomba boat?

Accepted Answer

Identify your boat using the hull identification number (HIN) and engine serial number. Current Moomba models (Craz, Mojo, Max, Tykon, Makai, Mondo, Kaiyen) all use the Indmar 6.2L Ford Raptor 400 engine. Common service part numbers include oil filter 501022S, standard spark plugs 491008 (non-catalysed), iridium spark plugs 491009 (catalysed exhaust), and intake manifold gasket 556099 (5.7L Vortec, order 2 per engine). Always confirm compatibility with your model year before ordering.

Question 7

What is the Moomba Kaiyen model?

Accepted Answer

The Moomba Kaiyen is a crossover ski and wakeboard model, approximately 21' in length, designed for riders who want a versatile boat capable of both slalom skiing and wakeboarding. It features a flatter hull than the dedicated wakeboard models, producing a softer wake for skiing while still offering enough wake for recreational boarding. It is powered by the Indmar 6.2L Ford Raptor engine.

Question 8

What propeller should I use on my Moomba boat?

Accepted Answer

Moomba boats typically use OJ (Outboard Jet) Nibral 4-blade propellers. The Tykon and Max models commonly use the OJ 15.5x13 4-blade propeller, while smaller models like the Craz and Mondo may use a different pitch depending on engine output and intended use. Propeller selection affects wake size, hole shot, and top speed — consult your owner's manual or an authorised Moomba dealer for the correct propeller for your model and riding style.

Question 9

Does Moomba offer a warranty on parts purchased in Australia?

Accepted Answer

Moomba boats are sold in Australia as a secondary market brand with USD pricing through parts.moombaboats.com.au. Parts purchased through this channel may have different warranty terms than the US primary market. Indmar engine parts typically carry the manufacturer's standard warranty. Retain your purchase receipts and contact the parts team for specific warranty claims on items purchased from the Australian parts store.

Question 10

Can I upgrade my Moomba's ballast system?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Moomba boats feature the Flow ballast system which can be upgraded with larger ballast bags and higher-capacity pumps. The Tykon and Mojo models have the largest factory ballast capacities. When upgrading, use genuine Moomba ballast components to ensure compatibility with the factory control system and to maintain hull integrity. Third-party ballast upgrades should be installed by an authorised dealer to preserve warranty coverage.
